WhatIs: Phishing

"Phish" is pronounced "fish". This is an analogy.

The "fishermen" want the targets' sensitive information such as the password.

The "bait" is a deceptive message masquerading as a trusted entity. The "bait" could be in the form of an e-mail, a phone call, an SMS message, a social media message, a web page, a malware, etc.

How to prevent from phishing

Always check where the messages are from, check the URL of web pages especially when asked to enter sensitive information.
